Is anyone even talking about Christmas anymore? Almost a month later? Too bad...I'm trying to catch up here!
The holidays were crazy-busy here, with the Wisconsin grandparents visiting for Thanksgiving, the Georgia contingent here for Christmas, two dinners on Christmas Day, and traveling to New Orleans for nearly a week (without children!) over New Year's. The house is still a wreck as we try to absorb all the new toys into our collections and settle back into a routine.
Lily enjoyed all the trappings (and wrappings!) of her first Christmas:
Maggie was given the opportunity to meet Santa in person this year, but she chickened out. "He's a little bit scary," she said, "but I like his clothes." She once again tried to stymie Santa with an obscure request. Last year she wanted a blue elephant, and this year it was "Dorfy shoes" for her baby doll. And Santa came through, not only with the shoes, but the gingham dress, too. Take that!
Perhaps my favorite part of the season was hearing Maggie's renditions of timeless Christmas classics:
Joy to da world!
Da Lord has come
Let Earf re-see her king!
Ev'ry heart parry rude!
And heav'n and may-cher sing...
Jingle bells, jingle bells,
Jingle all de way
Ole Miss Fun it is to ride
In a one-wuss open sleigh...
Lucky for us, the fun doesn't end here. Next on the horizon is "Balance-Times Day"!
P.S. I'm also caught up on November and December Flickr photos.
